Additional Play Information

Those who have followed Moby's career are familiar by now with his deep convictions and spiritual connection. On his 1999 release, Play, he celebrates his faith in a masterful, unobtrusive way, channeling gospel and other inspirational samples through beats so earthy they could grow grass on a cement dance floor. It's impossible to separate the joy of the message from the joy of the grooves. --Beth Massa

What Customers Say About Play:

(goa). no one's spending $604.00 on a moby album. probably more if you want it on vinyl, or care about condition.

and people will buy it for that price. at this point you may be thinking that no album is worth hundreds of dallars. they will buy it because the pleiadians/etnica are genius.

lets put it this way: if you want to buy the juggling alchemists under the black light, or IFO by etnica/pleiadians, you can expect to pay hundreds of dallars. it's just a regular old IFO album. if so, that's because you listen to moby, and think play is a good album.

i just saw a mint condition IFO on vinyl up for sale for a fitting $604.00. it's not a limited edition vinyl, it's not signed, it doesn't have extra tracks, most if not all of their fans have a downloaded version of it on their harddrives, and it's not pressed from solid gold.

Great album. This is surprising because the songs are so different and have so many different emotional elements. This album is so cohesive. It sets a tone and puts me into a certain mood that is sustained throughout the entire album.

Moby took ancient blues and gospel voices and layered them with dance grooves, creating songs such as "Porcelain" and "Natural Blues," which have a strange, haunting beauty that also became background music in countless TV commercials. "Play" is the techno album that proved a Mac could have a soul.

In defense of the lauded vegan, the first half plays at a consistency of astonishing proportion, making the latter half almost feel like b-sides in the arc of it. 3 1/2Rightly praised for further dancehall soul-sampled innovations, Play does in fact suffer from a classic case of second side syndrome.

Very eclectic music. Now I am completly hooked & play it all the time in the car. Was as advertised. Great CD. I ordered this because my pilates instructor runs this during pilates & it is great to exercise to.
